Why not try some of our free taster sessions. The sessions are for people aged 50 and over to come along and try something new. 

All sessions are FREE to attend. Refreshments are included and there is always time for socialising.

History Walk Join us for a walk around St Hilda’s to discover old Middlesbrough. Find out about the founders of the town and its historical buildings before moving on to the Transporter Bridge Visitors Centre for refreshments. Introduction to Coding It’s very similar to crosswords and puzzles. A code a day can keep your brain 10 years younger! You don’t need to be a computer whizz kid to take part, just very basic computer skills are enough. This activity is designed to be very user friendly and a lot of fun, especially when done in a group. The benefits of Coding:

Can keep your brain sharp

Can help to relieve stress (great focus for the mind)

Can keep you social (helping each other problem solve)

Record Project Come along to our sessions at the Town Hall to relive your most memorable music – bring your own records, browse through ours or make a request! Eden Camp To celebrate International Older People’s Day, we have organised a visit to Eden Camp Museum in Malton, North Yorkshire. Experience the sights, sounds and smells of life on the home front and the front line. All set in the buildings and grounds of an original Second World War prisoner of war camp. Tuesday 1st October 9:45am pick up – 4pm drop off Coach pick up and drop off points will be in central Middlesbrough. Details will be confirmed when places are allocated
Women’s History Project Who were the key women in the history of our town? What was their contribution? This project will cover the early development of Middlesbrough through to the modern day. A fascinating journey through the decades with visits to places of historical interest. Memories Are Made Of This, Middlesbrough Theatre A roller coaster of a journey through some of the greatest songs of the 50s, 60s and 70s. Over 160 amazing costumes, a touch of humour from one of the UK’s top comedians and performances rarely seen outside the West End from this superb cast of singers and dancers. Including songs by Jersey Boys, The Four Tops, The Supremes, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Elton John, Abba and many more. Swing Fit Combining fitness and dancing, Swing Fit is a chance to get lively through fun, low impact movements. Get moving to the sensational swing songs of the 1920s, all the way up to the 1950s. Nordic Walking Come along and try this activity, exercise your upper body muscles as well as your legs. Hot drinks are available to buy in the tea room. Choir and Cake Join us every Monday to sing songs from television, film and theatre. These sessions are about fun and enjoyment. You do not need to have any experience as all abilities are welcome. Get Online Week: Digital Discovery Afternoon. Assistive Technologies for Independent Living (No need to book)

Drop-in and see the many different technologies and devices that can help you or a loved one live more independently, improve communications with family and friends and generally enhance your IT skills. We will be joined by Doro, Google, Middlesbrough Football Club, Environment City, The Royal National Institute of Blind people, Action on Hearing Loss, ILC, Barclays and many more. Christmas Market – Bowes Museum Barnard Castle Browse the Christmas stalls inside and out in this beautiful setting, or have a walk around the village. Lunch is available to buy in the café or venture out around the village. Coach free – you will need to pay the £5 entrance fee to the Christmas Market.
