Celebrating Change – Your Stories on Film

Autumn 2017 brings a new project for anybody living in and around Middlesbrough. ‘Celebrating Change’ will bring together residents to work with a writer and a filmmaker, learning how to use creative writing, journalling and simple filmmaking techniques to create their own digital story – a mixture of words, images and sound recordings. The project will show everyday ways to make a positive difference in society today.

We’re looking for people to try a taster of what’s on offer, and maybe join us for the whole project. If you would like to explore different ways of looking creatively and positively at the changes taking place around you, we’d love to see you there.

Where: 3rd floor, Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art (mima) When: Thursday 21st September, 1.30-3pm. There's a free community lunch at mima at 1pm which you're also very welcome to attend.

Please RSVP to project leaders Laura Degnan and Kirsten Luckins at or call 07585 223162.

Jungle Book – Dementia Friendly Screening

Cineworld Middlesbrough, Monday June 19th at 11am. Doors open at 10,30
Dementia Friendly screenings enable people living with dementia and their carers to attend the cinema in a safe and comfortable environment, giving them the chance to get out and socialise. Screenings are open to everyone, but are enhanced to suit the needs of people living with dementia: During the film low lights are left on inside the auditorium, the volume of the soundtrack is reduced and it’s fine for members of the audience to express themselves.
The staff on duty for these screenings have become Dementia Friends to help provide support before, during and after the screenings, as well as making our venue generally more Dementia Friendly.
