Sporting Chance

In October we were invited to meet the members of Sporting Chance. We were very inspired by their enthusiasm and thought you’d like to hear about it too!

Sporting Chance project is funded for three years by the National Lottery through the Big Lottery and works exclusively with men aged 50+ in Middlesbrough.

The weekly programme managed by Volunteering Matters in partnership with Public Health Middlesbrough offers a wide range of physical activities from walking to aqua size and gym sessions, to name but a few.  There really is something for everyone whatever your ability; the instructors are qualified to work with G.P. referrals too.

Members said that joining Sporting Chance improved their health and wellbeing. They enjoy taking part alongside like-minded people in a friendly atmosphere. Many took up activity after years of being less active, to fill that gap after retiring or finding themselves living alone.

There are also non-physical activities such as reminiscence sessions, talks by sporting heroes, trips and special events!

If you’re interested or want to find out more, go have a cuppa and see what they do! Contact Craig 01642 515616 or Gill 01642 231560 to find out more.
