Our Advisory Group
Our programme is supported by a dedicated group of older people and they’re looking for new members!
It’s your chance to get involved in this exciting programme that is making a difference to older people’s lives.
The Advisory Group have been meeting monthly since February 2014 and have an active role in the programme. They’ve taken part in consultation events and workshops, they’ve helped to select the partner organisations that deliver part of the programme and recruited the staff. They were involved in the development of the brand and logo too.
They meet alongside a Core Partnership Group that oversees the running of the whole programme. Three members of the Advisory Group sit on the Core Partnership making sure that older people are represented at the highest level of the programme.
Advisory Group member, Marjorie Homer is the newly appointed Chair of the Core Partnership. She said “I have been involved in this exciting and worthwhile programme since February 2014 and have enjoyed taking part in many of its developments. I feel privileged to have been elected as Chair of the Core Partnership and look forward to us finding many more ways to help older people in Middlesbrough who are experiencing loneliness and social isolation.”
Stuart Brown, Advisory Group Chair, said, “We’re glad to be part of something important that is making a difference to people’s lives. This programme is about older people and it’s important that older people are involved in making the decisions.”
Geoff, Advisory Group member said “Joining the Advisory Group has helped prevent me from becoming socially isolated following the death of my wife. It is helping me with communication and confidence building”.
The Advisory Group members are representing older people in Middlesbrough and we’d love to welcome new members to make sure that we are a truly representative group.
