Programme Development Officer – Communications and Marketing

Salary: £22,814

36.5 hours per week – Fixed term to March 2021

Ageing Better Middlesbrough is a Big Lottery Community funded programme aimed at reducing loneliness and isolation in Middlesbrough for people aged fifty and over.

 Middlesbrough and Stockton Mind is the lead organisation for this innovative and exciting programme and we are now recruiting into a crucial position in the Programme Management Team.

Food and Friendship Project Co-ordinator

Salary: 25 hours/week £17,885 (£26,470 pro rata)
Contract: Fixed term contract until 31st March 2021

Do you believe that gathering people together around food and activities can strengthen relationships and build stronger communities?

Do you have a vision for an asset-based, community response to isolation and loneliness amongst older people?

Churches, faith and community groups are rooted in local communities and can enable people over 50 to connect with people of other generations and community activities, to reduce loneliness and isolation and strengthen local relationships.

Our vision is to:
• Raise awareness and understanding within churches, faith and community groups about loneliness and isolation amongst older people, and people of younger generations
• To develop a network of Food and Friendship Projects across Middlesbrough in church, faith and community venues to ensure there is a place for people to gather and share food together
• To create spaces where everyone is welcome and people can form new friendships, bringing their experiences, knowledge and skills to enrich their local community

We need someone with passion and imagination and the ability to work creatively with older people and younger generations to develop places where everyone can enjoy food and friendship.

You must have excellent communication skills, an ability to develop relationships with a wide range of people, experience of working with faith and community groups and an understanding of the issues and difficulties faced by older people who are lonely and isolated.

This is a partnership project with Middlesbrough Environment City (MEC), you will be responsible for co-ordinating the Food and Friendship Project, working with a team of cooking and growing staff employed by MEC.

We have a brand new role for a Social Prescribing Worker. You will use your skills in person centred support, project development and partnership working to make a real difference.

You will play an instrumental role in the development of the project within the GP practice, supporting patients to improve their wellbeing and connect with other services and community activity.
