We are celebrating 2000 members
Our programme for people aged 50 and over has attracted more than 2000 members since we started three years ago.
Our free membership is a way for people to receive information about events, activities and opportunities all across Middlesbrough.
Hannah Warburton, Communications Manager at Ageing Better Middlesbrough, said: “With a proactive approach to life, we see people enjoying socialising and new activities whatever their age.
“Our members are a great example; we have a 92 year old woman who still swims 30 lengths most days, published poets, a hula hooping instructor, wildlife volunteers and many more who are proud to fly the flag for older people in Middlesbrough.
“We also offer one to one support for anyone who is feeling disconnected from their community and who would like to build confidence to get more involved.”
Helena Gordon from Acklam is a 65-year-old Ageing Better Middlesbrough member and part of the programme’s action group. She said: “If you are over 50 you have nothing to lose by joining Ageing Better. It is free and a great place to find out what is going on and to meet new people.”
